Driving myself crazy?! Is it lymphoma or something else?!

Hi All,

We're to start? I found a lump in the left side of my neck, oval shaped , painless, movable but quite hard about three months ago and then another one the same side at the base of my neck but thought nothing of it. Then 6 weeks ago I noticed that my left armpit was quite swollen,I've felt it and it's pretty lumpy, some soft lumps and some harder. I've also got a small swelling above my left collarbone and strangely another lump similar to the one in my neck above my elbow on the inside of my arm and another soft lump with swelling at the top of my arm just underneath below my armpit.. The thing that's totally thrown me is that my ribs are swollen in the right side which is the opposite side and my groin on the right side is also swollen and the one and only place that's quite sore. These things have come one thing after another for six weeks the groin being the latest that I noticed yesterday. I have no other symptoms, I'm not ill or losing weight of anything.I'm probably more tired than usual but that's because I'm not sleeping prodding and poking at these lumps all night driving myself crazy. I've been to Drs and they have referred me to the breast clinic because of my armpit swelling but there's just so much more to this than just my armpit and I don't seem to have a breast lump! I keep thinking surely if it was anything bad it wouldn't be in all these different places surely but they're just not going away?!

Maybe I should stop looking online

  • Hi Eliza83,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this is worrying - it's never nice to notice something different, and the uncertainty can be difficult.

For now I would suggest trusting the doctors - and making sure you discuss your concerns at your next appointment. You could try to limit your body checks to once per day, and perhaps make a note of anything you notice. You can then discuss these notes with the doctor.

Hopefully you'll get answers at the clinic, but if you don't and you're still concerned, you can always revisit your GP.

And yes try to avoid looking online - the information can be outdated as well as not specific to you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
