Lump in front of neck

I am a 36 year old mum of 6. Two years ago it was explained to me that I have a mutation of the gene in my Thyroid. I noticed a lump in my neck the size roughly of a marble some months ago. Mentioned it to my partner and he said not to worry it’s just a gland. For I suffer with chronic asthma but have noticed my breathing is bad everyday and have suffered with swallowing for a number of months. I was away in Majorca last week when I noticed the lump has gone substantially bigger and now feel it’d oushing in on my throat. I went to see out of hours GP who felt the lump and said it’s s cause for concern and I need to visit my Gp to put in for an urgent referral to ENT. As you can imagine I am feeling quite worried and don’t feel I can talk to my famiky

  • Hi Rjames and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the lump that you've had for the past few months. It's good that you went to the Dr to get things checked. I hope that you've been able to make an appointment with your own GP to discuss a referral.

I think that most all our members here would agree that the waiting can be a particularly difficult time. Be it waiting for an appointment, for tests or for results, it seems natural that most people experience some degree of worry. Just try to keep busy and take each day as it comes.

I really hope that you don't have to wait too long to see a specialist. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
