Worried

My 78 year old dad had an mri on his prostate now the urologist has said his bloods are a bit high....no idea how high because dad wouldn't let anyone go with him!! All he has said is he has to have an ultrasound and bone scan within the next 2 weeks!! Mum, my sisters and I are out of our minds with worry. Does it mean yes he has prostate cancer and the doctor thinks it's spread to his bones?? Dad is hard of hearing so he could have missed vital information in the consultation! :|

  • Hi JollyJet,

Welcome to Cancer Chat - although I'm sorry to read about your worry regarding your dad.

Unfortunately no-one here is really able to advise on what may be going on or why they are doing further tests. It is likely that they're doing all they can to find out everything they need to know.

I'm sure this uncertainty is difficult for all of you. Try to carry on as normally as possible until you find out more. It would of course be good if one of you is able to attend with him so that you can also be informed and ask anything your dad may not think to ask - perhaps you could suggest this and hopefully he would be OK with it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
