Neck swelling and feeling ill

Hi

since beginning of September I’ve had pain in my jaw, my dentist thought it was an infection had 2 courses of antibiotics and no difference. Referred to maxillo facial who found lymph node under jaw to feel very ‘full’ and referred for neck ultrasound and also found I have a piece of filling embedded in the jaw, he doesn’t understand why that would have caused the pain as it’s been there over a year but plans to remove it anyway.

Last couple of weeks I’ve been feeling so tired, low on energy had the odd night sweat and going hot and cold during the day.

Has anyone been through anything similar?

My main worry is going through the surgery to remove the filling from my jaw if that’s not causing the problem.

Could it be some kind of lymphoma? Anything else I can do or ask my gp to do to feel better. I’m struggling to work at the moment with the way I’m feeling.

Thanks for any advice

  • Hi Clarelouuse37,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read how you're feeling at the moment - I can imagine this is difficult especially with the uncertainty too.

Unfortunately no-one here is really able to advise on what it could be. The best thing is to wait for the results of the ultrasound and to speak to your doctor about it.

I would suggest keeping a note of your symptoms each day, so that you can discuss this with your doctor and also note any progression or differences in how you're feeling.

Also write down any questions you have so that you remember to ask them at your next appointment.

Once you have the results hopefully this will give you a clear path forward. It would also be good to talk through how you're feeling with your GP in relation to your work and what you feel able to do.

Do use this forum as much as you'd like to get any support from others - it's a very welcoming community of people here.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
