Constant Abnormal cells & Pregnancy

I’m looking for a small bit of advice. Background info clear smear 2012 fast forward 3 years to recall smear High Grade CIN 3, 5 lletz, 3 cone biopsies, D&C after multi-disciplinary meeting of consultants , found no abnormalities in uterus (cytology consultants felt possible uterine cells in smear) endo cervical and cervical cells normal.... September 2019 still abnormal smears , clear margins, biopsies clear but smear abnormal.... next step results pending in 12 weeks full cervix removal & 60% ability to get pregnant and following success surgery for trans abdominal cerclage , c section followed by full hysterectomy. Question is anybody in same boat? Consultants baffled as to abnormal smears at this point, colposcopy shows no abnormalities, biopsy none but smear yes. 33 years old one 14 year old and now deciding whether to forego surgery come off depo provera (contraceptive injection) after 14 years and try for a baby as it is bigger chance to conceive now. Withered at this point nearly 5 years on and 52 colposcopy visits later. Appreciate any advice at this point, staring to lose hope

  • Hi Irishcailin2019,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you've been through a tough time recently with all these tests and uncertainty - I can imagine this has been difficult.

I'm glad to hear it sounds as though the consultants are working with you to find out what may be the reason for the abnormal results. I'd suggest discussing your suggestion with your consultant, if you haven't already, to get their advice and then make a decision from there.

You're also welcome to ask any questions to, or discuss anything with, our nurses who you can reach on 0808 800 4040 - they're available Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Otherwise, hopefully any others on this forum who have any similar experience or advice to offer will be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
