I went to a&e last week with bad chest pains and shortness of breath. I had blood tests which prompted me to be sent for a contrast ct scan. They found bilateral pulmonary embolism. When the doctor told me about what they had seen she asked me to come into a side room for an examination It was at this point that she told me about a mass in my left breast that had also shown on the scan. She told me they were very certain it is breast cancer. She examined me and said she would need to make a fast track referral to the breast clinic. When I left the room nearly every nurse I passed apologised for my diagnosis one even gave me a hug and told me I had to fight this. All in all they more or less told me they knew what it was and I'm assuming they know these things when they see them on the scan but it has to be a specialist that confirms. I feel devastated and also like the staff at the hospital know more than they are letting on. I'm so scared
