The journey begins.

I am 68 years old and had investigations and diagnosis today. I’m really pleased to find a support forum.

  • Hi there Sandra...

And welcome to our little safe place .. we're we can chat or have a rant .. say it how it is ... and help each other through .. maybe tell us a little about your journey so far ..

There's some amazing people on here .. lots of different diagnosis... different treatments... but all one thing in common... kicking cancers butt... so get your vertual boxing gloves and join us in the ring ..

  • I have had two mammograms a scan and 5 painful biopsies today. I’ve had a cry and a good laugh. They are sure as they can be that I have breast cancer but have to go back on 15th for results of scan and treatment options if any. So at the very start of this journey. Xx

  • Hi ya ..

Well just think how many have trod that same path ... and bet none of us diddnt feel scared or have a good cry .. or think it was over .. l even wrote my letters to loved ones...

I still remember that feeling of hearing those words we all dread .. and nothing else he said registered .. I was so glad my daughter in law was taking notes ... your not alone ..

Looking back on my journey,  that fist bit .. was the worse ... it was overwhelming... but you know after I got it all out .. cryed till there were no more tears, realised I had to get it together and get ready to look it in the eye .. and however long or short my journey would be .. to fight back ..

I think cancer wants us to give up without a fight,  lay down and stay there ... well don't let it... IF your diagnosed with it .. get those shock emotions out .. admit your scared .. but I think the definition of the word "brave"  is being scared witless but still doing what you have to any way  ....

So then, get a pair of vertual boxing gloves and get in the ring ready to kick it's ***... join us all there .. there were about 8 of us started on here, when I was diagnosed with a grade 3 ... all different stages and treatments but wer all still here .. and most of them have gone back to their normal life after cancer ..

So don't give up .. breast cancer has come a long way... and those letters... well they are put away safely,  hopefully for a good while yet ... so let us know how you go ...  Chrissie xx

  • thank you so much Crissie. I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn’t just nothing. I knew it was serious. I was away on a week long retreat and had to wait until I got home to get GP to refer me to breast clinic. Waited about 10 days. Yesterday 2 mammograms. Scan and 5 very painful biopsies. My husband had prostate cancer a couple of years ago and that ended our physical relationship. He made a joke of no chance now if I end up with no hair and no breasts and we were hysterical laughing.

I’m waiting now for MRI then back on the 15th for results of the biopsies. I’m a very young 68 and choose to still work self employed. I carry out assessments for the local authority and just don’t know whether or not I will be able to finish the work I have started.  So today feeling a bit confused as well as very sore. Also I lost my best friend to ovarian cancer 3 years ago and watched her go to hell and back with 37 chemotherapy sessions. So I’m scared. I’m and vain. Thought of losing my hair and my life as I’ve known it. On the up side I’m very spiritual in my beliefs and death does not scare me. So start of my journey. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to off load.
