About 7 weeks ago my (retired) husband noticed a small lump in his neck. We waited a while to see if it went down but it didnt so a trip to the gp resulted in blood tests. Dont know exactly what was in them but something apart from his age was causing the gp concern so he saw a head and neck specialist within a week and had an ultrasound guided aspiration during which they took three samples from the lump. Fortunately no other symtoums, he doesnt feel ill, isnt losing weight, but hasnt had an infection. Consultant didnt say very much at all apart from not seeing anything worrying in his mouth. The radiologist said not to worry too much as "it looked benign to him".
After that nothing happened so we rang the consultants secretary and were told he was on holiday and the results were not back yet. Phone again a week later and was told he needed to see the consultant as the biopsy was inconclusive and he'd be sent an appointment. The secretary claimed to have sent an email, the appointments people said they didnt have one but would speak to the secretary. A week on and we are still being told no appointment booked for him. It's now 5 weeks since the biopsy and we have no idea what comes next. Meanwhile the lump goes up and down and hopefully is not going to be cancer.
Feeling very frustrated at the moment and thinking about a complaint.
