I have made another chat about my situation.... I went to the walk in on Thursday and now had a phone call today my appointment I'd Wednesday..... I'm panicking coz that is really quick I think..... not even 6 days and I'm being seen.....

  • Hi Bec

I can see that you posted in our Ask the Nurses section a few days ago. I'm sorry you've not had a reply - they don't work weekends and there can sometimes be a delay in responding.
It's not as unusual as you might think to be seen so quickly at breast clinic. I know there are a number of members on the forum who have had an appointment within a week of the referral being completed.

It's understandable that you're feeling concerned at the moment but hopefully within a few days now you'll have a better idea about what these lumps might be.
I've edited the title of your post here so that some of our members who have been in similar situations will see and may respond.
If you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses ahead of your appointment then give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

Do let us know how you get on at the clinic later this week.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello, I too am awaiting appointment at the breast clinic. My gp saw me last Monday and I was referred, I got a call straight away from the hospital and they booked me in for this Wednesday so 9 days wait.

I am really nervous, I keep searching online for symptoms and outcomes.

id really like Wednesday to just come quick because I want to know what I’m up against. I hate not knowing

    xx

  • Hi there

Try not to worry, the amount of time waiting bears no relation to any possible diagnosis, I was seen 6 days after my last referral and I got the all clear. Look at it as a positive, less time to wait around worrying x

  • Its horrible waiting isn't it..... I've started getting pain in my chest and ribs I just wanna no now..... I'm 28 and have 5 kids i need to no to start putting a plan in place..... u will have to let me no how yours goes..... mine is at 3..... what area are u in

    Xx

  • I guess.... but if u look at my older post I think the nurse scared me a little as she kept saying your to young for this..... and why didnt u come earlier.... I only thought there was 2 lumps and a indent.... she found 5 lumps u indents my nipple is pointing the opposite way and found 2 ropes( dunno what that means) just wanting it to hurry up..... I'm glad I got it quick though coz the wait is horrible

    Xx

  • Hello Bec,

mine is a morning appointment and I’m from Leeds. Where are you from?

im 35 and have 3 children so understand that the worry your going through is mainly for them. My youngest is just 2 and my oldest just 10. One of my children has autism also and is very dependent on me. It breaks my heart as to what would ever happen if I wasn’t there for all of them.

My gp didn’t do a full breast examination, I just told her where I had felt the lump and she just went ‘oh ye, let’s get you refered’

i have one very large lump that I can feel, not sure if there is more, I have the indent/dimples too, all in my right breast. I’ve had pain in my right boob and pain under my armpit and down my arms, like a cramping feeling. Also both my boobs have swelled and are sore, sort of like that hormone surge you get when your pregnant and your boobs feel full. That’s what mine are like now, I’ve not worn a bra for two weeks because they are sore but I’m only petite anyway so nobody has noticed.

im full of dred for tomorrow, but just want it over with so like you say I can make a plan.

Wish you all the best of luck for tomorrow, hopefully we will both get good news. Let me know how your appointment goes xx

  • Hi Becca

i did see your original post, however that nurse was not a breast nurse nor has she got X-ray eyes, so I wouldn’t be jumping to conclusions. If you look at the replies to posts I’ve made you will see lots of young ladies who have been in your position, I think all of them came back clear. It’s very rare to have breast cancer at your age. ‘Ropes’ is most likely to be fibrocystic breast tissue, indentation could be caused by losing weight in your breasts....there are lots of different reasons for lumps - 80% of lumps are benign.

I know it’s difficult not to panic but try and keep busy until your breast appointment xx

  • Hey, I’m just wondering how your appointment went? I have a long indent on the side of my breast, it’s more visible when tensing my muscle, dissapears when leaning forward, literally petrified but have doctors on Monday so hopefully it’ll be ok xx
