This is my first post

Yesterday I had an endoscopy after suffering with heart burn, food getting stuck with chest pain, reflux as well. Barrett's and cancer of the Oesophagus runs in the family. 

The initial report shows a 5cm hiatus hernia, oesophagitis grade A, schatzki ring with slight mucosal irregularities. They took 6 x biopsy. It also showed the stomach and Duodenum normal. 

My question is - are 6 biopsies normal? And would I have been told if there was an indication of anything more sinister going on? Also does anyone know what a schatzki ring is? Would the report have mentioned Barrett's or Gerd? 

As I had been sedated so felt a little woozy when talking to the nurse so probably didn't ask questions...just sat there nodding.
