2 new moles appeared on toes

Hi,

I recently went to my GP because I had noticed 2 new moles had appeared, one on each big toe. One is quite small but the other is about as big as a pencil eraser and very asymmetrical (looks like it has bits growing out of it).

It took me a few weeks before I realised I should get them checked out just in case and the doctor immediately referred me to a dermatologist with a 2-week wait...

I’m on an immunosuppressant medication and also stupidly used a sun bed a few times this summer.

Now really freaking out about it... has anyone been in a similar situation and had the all-clear?

  • Hello,

I got a "mole" on my third toe exactly like what you described and I first noticed it also around 3 years ago. I have contact the GP and sent over the photos, but still need wait for the reply from a dermatologist.
May I ask did you get any advice from your doctor already by any chance? Is it sth to worry about?

    many thanks

  • Hi, my gp has looked at it twice and said he isn't worried my practice nurse also looked at it and said she didn't think it was anything bad but she doesn't usually deal with moles, mines is quite but not just a little dot it's around a centimetre lenght wise and is oval not circle shaped Ive been referred to dermatology but was told it was a 16 week wait for normal appointments but with everything going on it might even be a lot longer ‍♀️ I've been keeping a very close eye on it recently I don't think it's changed much it's hard to tel sometimes I convince myself it's bigger and darker then I check photos from a few months ago and they look the same ‍♀️

im praying mine is just a regular mole that showed for whatever reason and if it is I'm still going to ask for it to be removed as it gives me bad anxiety

  • Hi, thanks for your reply! Yes mine has a long shape as well which is not normal according to my GP. The thing is I want to remove it anyways as even if it is just a normal mole now, it's on the foot, which increases the risk as we rub it a lot when we walk and exercise. I wouldn't worry that much if it's on my leg or arm where we can avoid touching the mole.

  • Oh that's starnge my Gp didn't even mention it's shape! Mine is where my toes join to the foot if that makes sense like right in that little arch you wouldn't know it was there until I separate my toes I assumed because of where it was it probably influences the shape, I was convinced when I first seen it that it was woodchip stuck in my toe it was sore itchy and I picked it! I think it was smaller until I picked it, I know years ago I used to get a lot of blisters in that area because my baby toe sits funny and presses/rubs the exact are the mole is so I know I haven't always had this mole and it's new I'm hoping it turns out to be skin damage from blisters/me picking it I've read sometimes the skin doesn't heal well and you can be left with marks that look brown but aren't moles if it's a mole I'm praying it's ok, they say every mole has a twin and if you can't see another like it on your body then it's worth getting it looked at as far as I can see this one is a loner I don't think I have one similar to it just hoping my appointment comes through soon it's been 13/14 weeks now I was told 16 weeks when I called to find out why I hadn't heard anything so hopefully not much longer, has your gp referred you under the 2 week referral or just standard ?

  • Hello i have just come back from the sea side had a shower and noticed a black dot in between my toe and im gonna ring the gp tomorrow morning but im really scared
