Very worried

Hi,

My smear showed boarder line changes and postitive for hpv infection. Then on the 2ns September I had Lletz procedure done following a coloposopy result showing high risk precancerous cells. After had all the suggested expected side effects watery discharge and when my periods started two weeks later was slightly heavier than usual. On Tuesday it appeared my period had finished. Thursday lunchtime I started bleeding very heavily and passing large clots continuously. I went to a&e and was admitted. They gave me IV antibiotics and drugs to stop the bleeding. Two days later had my results from the lletz procedure, it shows that there are still high risk cells found. And they will discuss at the weekly medical board this coming Friday the next plan of treatment for me. I’m really frightened. Im scared I don’t really feel things were explained properly and I’m now home continuing to take two different antibiotics and iron tablets I just waiting and can’t help but thinking the worst although trying not too!

  • Hi , I’m feeling frightened too , I’m awaiting some breast biopsy results currently so I feel your pain . Take care

  • Hello Lou35 and thank you for posting a question. I am sorry to learn about your situation it does sound like you have been through a lot.

Unfortunately I don't think that I can shed a great deal of light on your individual situation, as I am not involved in your care and do not know your full details. It might be worth trying to speak with someone at the colonoscopy unit.  But I can appreciate that it is not always easy to get through.

While it is certainly disappointing that you still have abnormal cervical cells, your medical team will have come across this before and they will discuss a plan of action about how best to manage your situation. Usually women with abnormal cells only need one treatment to remove the abnormal cells and things go back to normal. But for a few women this is not always enough and sometimes they need a further treatment which hopefully sorts things out.  Sometimes the  cells can be monitored rather than treated right away..  But regardless of what is decided, it is important to remember that cervical screening is all about preventing cervical cancer. You are in the system, so it is unlikely that anything serious will happen

However, I can appreciate that the though of possibly needing more treatment is probably a bit unnerving in view of you having side effects before.  But I hope that this reply is of some help and if you can try not to worry as this is a problem that is likely to be sorted out.

Please get back to us if you have any other questions.  If you would like to telephone the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Jean

  • Hi there,

I really hope you are ok. The waiting is the worst! I got a letter for an appointment on the 4th I’m assuming to find out the next plan of treatment. I’m trying to focus on that they are still saying they are pre cancerous cells. Just so worried that it’s worse as I’ve never received my results in the post even though I’ve asked for them‍♀️

Hope you hear something soon, take care xx

  • Hi Lou, sorry to read about what happened to you. The exact same thing has happened to me. 3 weeks post lletz the bleeding stopped then came back with a vengeance and I was passing huge golf ball sized clots. I needed fluids tranexamic acid and antibiotics. I'm scared it'll happen again. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you
