high platelets normal Ca125

I went to my GP last week for bloating issues, abdominal/pelvic pain + constipation. Bloods were taken and now awaiting for abdo/pelvic ultrasound appointment. Blood results show high platelet count and normal ca125. I understand normal ca125 does not always mean good news. It can also mean the other way. What also worries me is the high plaletes. I read somewhere that it can be an indication of cancer and there was a research about it associating high platelet levels with poor prognosis in ovarian cancer. Now I am scared and very worried about all of this.

Anybody who is/was in the same situation?

Thanks x

  • Hi Victoria,

I've just come across this message and wondered how you're getting on?

Im exactly the same as above, bloating issues, abdominal/pelvic pain, irregular bleeding. I got referred under the 2 week rule and had a couple of biopsies taken on Friday. What worries me is also that my bloods showed, high platelet count (I also read the same online as you had), low Serum folate level (which I've been put on 5mg folic acid for) but my CA125 is normal.

it feels like such a long wait now until I get my results, driving myself mad just constantly googling! X

  • Hi Hels and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you were trying to get in touch with Victoria. Unfortunately she hasn't been back on the forum in over 3 years so I'm not sure you will get to find out how she's getting on.

You're very welcome to reach out to others about this on more active and recent threads, or by starting your own discussion, but in the meantime, I hope this article on how to cope with waiting for news will help keep your nerves and mind at bay until you know more.

    Kind regards,
