Positive FIT test has led to an urgent referral. Terrified

I am 32 and have suffered from IBS for a number of years. In the last year, since having my daughter, my symptoms have become much worse. I had blood tests last month and did the FIT test. On Friday the GP rang me as my test had come back with an abnormal result. He said they needed to make an urgent referral for a colonoscopy as they were looking for more sinister causes for the blood such as cancer. I'm so worried that I have bowel cancer. I have had a change in bowel habits in the last month and I've googled too much and scared myself. My family are very positive and are trying to make me think positively but I am just so scared.

    I did two samples for the doctors which I had to collect from the surgery, the next day I received a letter and sample pot from my local bowel cancer screening service which i had to send away in the post. Unless I'm being dealt with through the bowel cancer screening service, hence the doctor taking no further action?

    Hi bit panicked here 

     

    I have had rectal bleeding (bright red) for three years eventually got a hospital appt two months ago they examined me then sent me back to my GP to get a qfit test which has came back positive so I have to go now for a colonoscopy. I'm really panicked the only symptom I have is bleeding nothing else and I have had it on and off for three years. So worried it's cancer any similar experiences

    Hi,

    I've had IBS for many years. Have a day where I can't go out, tummy sore the next day but then could go weeks/months without it.

    Had a calprotectin level of 800 2 years ago, colonoscopy didn't show anything.

    since beginning of April I've had a flare up that lasted 4 weeks. Went to GP, had blood tests/stool test. Blood test showed inflammation markers of 180. Went to ED a few days later and they had come down to 80 (still high apparently).

    Had a phone call from doctors today. Needed to see me urgently. My calprotectin levels were just below 5000 (should be below 50) & my FIT test came back at 200+ (should be 0-9)

    Being referred on urgent referral for another colonoscopy

    Anyone had similar?
