Advice on my mum

Good evening

My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last october 2018 she had HER2 negative and had surgery to remove the cancer. She had chemo and radiotherapy and completed all treatment June 2019.  When she had her scan back in sept 2019 something was mentioned about a shadow on her liver but nothing more was ever mentioned. January 2019 she had a bad chemo and ended up in hospital which revealed she had small gallstones. On and off she as had flare ups and now she is currently in hospital due to serve pain and is awaiting a operation to remove the gallbladder due to findings in January. Her bloods have come back abnormal for her liver and a xray showed something up so now is having a MRI scan. She has started to be jaundice and all her body is swollen her urine is like a cup of tea. I know this probably all gallbladder related but I'm just really worried that maybe she may have cancer of the liver now after  been given the all clear with breast cancer. I worry because my nan had lung cancer and after her treatment she was then told months later that it had spread to her liver and spine and was terminal. I suppose I am just looking for reassurance & being silly for over thinking. And should wait to see what the mri says. But I love my mum so much and saw all what she went through with breast cancer I dont want her to have it back.

Thank you for reading

  • Hi Ellie

Sorry to hear about your mum. She's been through a lot. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the MRI results, it could be gallstones, I know when mine flared up I was jaundiced and in a huge amount of pain. Only natural you're worried given the background but try not to jump to conclusions, waiting for scans is worrying enough without letting your imagination run wild. Take it one day at a time, concentrate on getting her through her gall bladder op and then turn your attention to the next thing on the list. Small manageable steps is the way to go. Hope everything works out xx
