Hi,

I know how worrying this will be but there is a very large chance that your doctor is right. Pregnancy hormones can often cause moles to change or new skin lesions to appear but it doesn't necessarily mean they are something serious. For every 10 patients who have a mole biopsied 7 or 8 will be found to be benign so the odds are in your favour. And if the odds turn against you, the good thing is you have had it removed quickly and treatment for melanoma is getting better so don't panic.

Yeah I hope so, I seen three gps and they wouldn't refer me to dermatology,  so I got the doctors to remove it as minor surgery, as I knew it would be sent off. I do really hope I'm way of the mark and I'm ok, 

Yes I will defenantly keep you updated,inoticed alot of people dont say how they got on, which if your looking for advice etc can be a bit of a bummer! 

I see you have melanoma,  I'm so sorry to see this. I do hope your ok, as well as you can be 

I'm fine thanks. I was first diagnosed 23 years ago & then it returned 10 years ago but had spread to my lymph nodes so I'm now Stage 3. I'm very lucky that it hasn't progressed although I can never say I'm totally out of the woods!

Yes, it's a pity that some don't come back and update us but sadly that's the way things go - if people get the all clear they heave a sigh of relief and, quite rightly, carry on with life but it would be good to show new members that more people aren't diagnosed with skin cancer - it gives them hope.

Just thought I'd update like I promised. The results finally came back (after 5 weeks) and its benign! So relived for the last few months I've been worried sick especially as it didnt seem to heal.  Just shows that even when something displays several characteristics of a cancerous mole it doesnt necessarily mean it is.

My gp removed mine,  they told me I'd they didnt contact me it was good news but I just called them every week, I called this morning they said they wad waiting for gp to check them them I called this afternoon and all was good,  have u called them?

yes called the doctors and the dermatologist secretary every week for the past 5 weeks but nothing yet. I think they said they would call if something abnormal but will write off all is good. I will keep trying from Monday

Thank you Angie me too fingers crossed!  Originally the dermatologist thought it was a traumatised hemangioma but since it appeared the end of July (was removed Sept)  I've had random bruising and itching so I'm really concerned it could be a lesion of T cell lymphoma (mycosis fungoides) as looks similar but could be my mind running away with me
