Worried about swollen lymph nodes

I have had a swelling in my left groin for 3+ months, my left armpit has been swollen for about 6 weeks (unable to feel a lump though) and I have a lump above my left collarbone. I saw my GP Monday, he sent me for a chest x-ray and requested by telephone an urgent referral for ultrasound scans on my groin and neck, I have an appointment on Monday, my GP also made an appointment for me to get my test results on Monday week. During my GP appointment I saw him typing up notes and noticed the word " lymphocytes" .

I am in a fair bit of pain which I thought was due to osteoarthritis (diagnosed @ 4years ago) but am now wondering if it's cancer in my bones .

I'm trying not to worry, I know I don't have long to wait, just wondering if anyone on this forum has had a similar experience and maybe some advice x

  • Hi Swampy31 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

You are right to try not to worry if you can and not to anticipate what it might be. It's good you don't have too long to wait as waiting is often described here as the hardest thing. It's great that they are being so efficient and I hope that you will find out more tomorrow and get some definite answers. I hope that you will talk to others here who have been in a similar situation and that they will be along soon with some tips or advice for you based on their individual experiences.

I hope it all goes well for you and that it all turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,
