Concerned - blood clots in stool, fatigue, abdominal pain

Hello everyone.

I'm just looking for advice really. I've been bleeding when I 'poo' for around 6 months now. I haven't sought medical advice as I put it down to piles and tried to adjust my diet and take over the counter medication.

However, over the last 6 weeks or so, I have heavy clotting with every poo. The toilet bowel ends up dark red and the toilet paper is covered below thick clots of dark blood. Additionally, I am constantly faitugued to the point that it affecting my ability to work, suffer abdominal pain and cramps and feel like I am unable to completely empty my bowels.

My GP tried to take a look but because I was so tense, she couldn't get in (of you get what I mean - very embarrassing). Anyway, she's sent me for blood tests next week but my family seem to be really worried. Should I be?

  • Hi just wandering is this still happening to you?

  • Hi

I hope I can give you some reassurance. Like you I've been having the same issues. And yes it's very worrying. I ignored it for awhile until my partner told me to get it checked out as it was getting me in state. So I went to my doctor first . I had blood tests stool sample sent off. It came back all clear. So I was like ok. Weeks later it started happening again , so I went back to the doctor this time he referred me to the hospital. I had to do an endoscopy/ Colonoscopy wasn't pleasant being honest.  For the first few days I was able to eat normally then I had to switch to a low fibre diet which the hospital make you do. Then on the 2nd to last day I was only allowed liquid and during the evening the ingredients to make you empty your bowels. Anyway , I had the camera done they found first degree hemaroids. They said they would go away or I could buy some cream over the count. If they continue they can tie them off then they drop off. Hopefully this is all you have.
