This is standard practice when they have found cancer in your biopsy. You do get scans straight away so that the team can tell what size of tumour you have and its exact location, and also to check if the cancer has spread anywhere else. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer from my biopsy and had an MRI scan the next day and a CT scan about 4 days later. The scans will enable your team to decide on an appropriate treatment plan, so don’t worry about this being unusual...it really isn’t. And I would stay off google...it only serves to scare you. Speak to people on forums like this who are actually going through this or who have come out the other side and you will hear facts and reality. I know a lot of ladies with cervical cancer from various support groups, and they were all sent for scans straight after their diagnosis. Good luck, and please let us know how you get on. xx

yeah, I am kind of in the same position although I have my MRI this afternoon - Friday the 13th! Brilliant :-( I am dead scared as I haven't really been told anything only something was found on transvaginal scan, hysteroscopy took biopsy and polyps.  I have someone saying it's cervical and then others saying it's womb - I don't know where I'm at so I just have to get through this waiting and then find out the results.  What symptoms do you have and did they say how long you would have to wait for your results? But the scans help them see what is there and sizing etc. x

I just read that some people get told it was found and are just given another LLETZ but I may sound silly but I wasn’t under the impression there was a tumour. I called the hospital and they said my results where in and to call back this afternoon once my doctor had spoken about my results at the meeting. If I was you just call the hospital and check if they are back next week, don’t wait for them as it’s something that weighs heaving on your mind, well it has for me. X
