Worried 30 year old

Hi all,

I've read this forum a few times over the years and find you all to be so kind and inspirational. My story is that 2 weeks ago I started with a light pain in my breasts that has now developed into an extremely painful dull ache over my left breast and shoulder, sometimes my arm too, It's extremely painful, almost like a muscle pain. It wakes me up at night and my anxiety is now out of control. I was referred by my doctor to the breast clinc but the wait is "a few weeks". Has anyone else experienced this pain? I have a strong family history of breast cancer. Two aunts and a grandmother all on my mother;s side of the family.

Thanks so much everyone.

Saoirse

  • Hi Saoirse

its good that you have been referred, best to know what’s causing the pain. Being so young the odds are in your favour as I think breast cancer for under 40s is 5%.

Also pain on its own is not a sign of breast cancer

there have been lot of young ladies on here with those symptoms and think al that I’ve replied to got the all clear at the breast clinic. Most don’t come back to the forum once they’ve been given the all clear so not sure how many out there will be able to respond to you.

But thought I’d reply anyway and offer the little support that I can. Try not to worry x

  • Hi Magpiemaggie,

Thanks so much for responding to my thread. It just feels like it doesn't match any other of the pains that they mention on the dreaded Dr. Google. My GP told me not to worry but I can't help it. I suffer badly with anxiety and this has been a big trigger. Had bad health all year and am struggling to deal with another possible bout of something bad. I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond and will update when I know more. Hope you are doing well xx

  • Oh Saoirse stay off Dr Google - it’s designed to frighten the hell out of people. Normal to feel worried especially if you have anxiety but I would take comfort in what the doctor says - they are the experts. Do keep in touch x

  • Hi Maggiepie,

I just wanted to let you know that I had a scan and consultation today and cancer was ruled out entirely. I have cysts but also non cyclical breast pain and have been advised to take evening primrose oil. Thanks so much for responding to my initial post. I truly wish you the absolute best ans appreciate your kindness so much xx

  • Saoirse

i’m thrilled that you got the all clear, do stick with the evening primrose oil, my friend swears by it. All the best xx
