I had the same thing done last March,  I had the biopsy done with general , and then when got my results it said I needed lletz treatment to remove cells , this is lazor treatment done under general also , I'd no pain threw any off it  just a horrible discharge that goes on for few weeks , worst part was the 9 weeks waiting for those results,  but thank God they said they had got all and I was clear and just to return to my gp in January 2020 for a normal smear test , hopefully this be clear also . Hi its because got borderline changes infection in a cervix that heard on youtube that might have Con   biopsy  done  but got go under general anaesthetic but reason why i try find aswers. Because my partner got illness  called myotonic dystrophy  that she got card to proof it that cant go under general anaesthetic to put to sleep because she wont wake up but can go on local anaesthetic . I worried because might take something out because she got infection in cervix. That why try find more info so i really sorry if repeating myself anyway thanks reply thanks again .

Hi Gerk first off thanks reply but you see i dont know what going to do since my partner got illness called  myotonic dystrophy got muscles around  her heart no working probably and said on her myotonic dystrophy card that cant have general anaesthetic .So i dont know what to do that cant put sleep at all . Since try get marry her next year so .I dont know what to do . My partner might walk out hopstial if give her that. Anyway i hope you feeling better thanks great comment thanks again .

I don't think there is any need to assume treatment will be needed. Has she been invited to a colposcopy? If a biopsy is needed, this will be taken during the colposcopy. It is a punch biopsy, no anaesthetic needed. If they decide to treat, this will likely be lletz under local, not general. 

Stop using the internet to scare yourself. You're finding treatments that probably have no relevance to the situation. A cone biopsy is treatment for removing abnormal cells higher up (CGIN). This is done under general, but is not necessary for most treatments. 

Hi i had a biopsy done yesterday they used no anaesthetic they just do it while there doing the colposcopy they get you to cough and then they do it then doesnt hurt. Hope this helps.

Please stop scaring yourself on the Internet! Listen to people who know. Your partner’s medical team will know that she cannot have a general anaesthetic and she will not get one. You do not need a general anaesthetic for having a biopsy or removing abnormal cells. This would not be normal practice.
