I'm new to the forum and if I'm honest just felt like I needed a place to vent (apologies!)

My wife was diagnosed with Cervial cancer 5 years ago. She had Radiotherapy and Chemo treatment as the original tumour size was inoperable (6cm). The original plan was to attempt to shrink it down to 4cm and then operate and remove the tumour.

All of us were stunned when the doctor informed us that the Raditherapy and Chemo had done such a good job that it actually killed off the tumor and it had gone. She has been in remission ever since.

We were due to go for her last appointment at the hospital a couple of weeks ago and as my wife has been having a bit of phantom pain in her side where the tumour was they decided to do a final MRI just to ensure there was nothing untoward.

We were due to go back the following Thursday but we had planned a week away (last minuite) with the kids so re-arranged the appointment for October. On the Thursday whilst we were away the consultant contacted my wife over the phone and informed her they had found something untoward on the pelvic bone but on the opposite side to where the tumour originally was and that she required an urgent PET / CT scan. This was a week last Thursday and she has only just managed to get the scan done today.

As you can imagine the wait has been torture for her and she is anxious all the time, looking things up online and not sleeping. I asked her to go to the doctors to see if there was anything they could do to try and help calm her down but all they offered was councelling. I think because the consultant was so vague over the phone, it has got her fearing the worst.

I have looked things up online and am preparing myself for the worst case scenario but just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience such as this and would they also presume that given the urgency on this that they would also think the cancer has returned?
