Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear that you've had some on going health problems. I'm not surprised that you're feeling so tired dealing with these issues and juggling life with 2 year old twins! 

It sounds sensible that your GP has ordered some blood tests ahead of making a decision on referring you. I hope that you've had those done by now and that you won't have to wait too long for the results. 

There could be any number of reasons that the Dr in A&E advised you to see your GP after the MRI. I would imagine that had there been something that concerned the Dr that they would have contacted your GP or referred you to another department for follow up.

I've had my bloods done today and they should be back Monday, my Dr called yesterday to tell me she had decided to fast track an appointment with gastro too so should hear from them very soon 

Worrying and frustrating but at least it's being dealt with quickly

This needs sorting, whatever it is. You shouldn't be like this.

Don't give in with gp until you are satisfied they have checked everything.

Ask for a referral to be sure and a colonoscopy. It's the only way they can get answers.

I have had bowel cancer twice and apart from being low on iron my bloods didn't show anything else. Stool samples also came back normal and I had the tumour at the time.

It could be lots of things but please get the most serious ruled out. 

Please don't look things up on google.

I'm waiting on an appointment for a colonoscopy and I'm told it's been fast tracked so I'll be seen within two weeks so I guess at least they're taking it seriously !  

I've stayed away from Google as is rather not scare myself and more than I already am!

My bloods came back with low iron and raise blood platelets so now I'm just waiting for my hospital appointment

I was told that even the smallest bleed for a long period of time would cause low iron levels.

Leave it to the experts, don't google and I'm sure they will get you sorted as soon as they can.

Although I actually had cancer, I don't remember blood platelets ever being mentioned. We are all different so we can't really go on anyone elses experience. You're being seen by the right people now so we just have to leave it to them to sort out what's going on. They usually aren't long getting you in for colonoscopy.

I have joined the forum today to see if anyone is having the same symptoms as me and to be honest yours match mine pretty much exactly.

I had some blood and mucas in my stool about 18 months ago but as it went in a couple of weeks thought nothing of it. It came and went again since then more than once but again, I thought nothing of it really. Now it's been like it again for 4 weeks but this time with stomach pains, bloating, change in bowel habit and some lower back pain! Some of which (including worry) is causing me a loss of appetite and thus some weight loss.

I have been to the GP who has ordered some bloods but didn't seem overly concerned about cancer given my age of 40. He wants to see if I have an iron deficiency before whatever the next step may be, hospital referral I imagine.

I wish I could share that immediate lack of concern but having been googling far to much I have really worked myself up into a state of panic, thinking that it's cancer and has been for a good while, thus will be well developed. (I really need to stay away from Google)

I'll have to wait and see and I will be sure to update you. In the meantime I am sure leaving my young family early will constantly play on my mind, I suppose that's to be expected given the anxiety I have built up already.

Please let us know how you are and I really hope with all my heart that you have some positive news and are able to get better soon.

As a bowel cancer patient, twice my advice is.......

Push your GP for a colonoscopy, don't let them put you off'. Only a colonoscopy along with CT scan will confirm what is the problem and if these two come back ok your worrying will be much less.

All these symptoms could be bowel cancer but also other things.

Don't stop until you have a reason for these symptoms. I was treated for IBS for 18 months before diagnosis and as early detection is vital, this was wasting time.

Anyone, any age can get bowel cancer although it is more common over 50. I was 49.

Don't take the results of a stool test too seriously either, both times I had the cancer both mine came back ok.

PLEASE DON'T GOOGLE! ... we all do it and then regret it.

Push for tests to be done soon as the anxiety ia awful when you don't know either way, your mind runs away with itself. If you get no joy with this GP make another appointment straight away with a different one.

Clearly something is wrong, worst case of course being advanced Cancer, but regardless of what it is they need to find it so it can be treated as best possible.
