Mole biopsy results?

Hello everyone. Newbie to the site. Just asking for a bit of advice? 4 weeks ago tomorrow I attended hospital and had a mole biopsy on a suspicious mole. To date I haven't had any results back. This morning I received a follow-up appointment to attend hospital at the end of November. They would not provide any results over the phone. Does this cry out that they found something suspicious? Family are consoling me by saying that if it were sinister, an urgent appointment would've been made for me. Please help!

  • Hi Jen79

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had to have a biopsy on a suspicious mole. It's natural that you might be feeling concerned about the results, however it's fairly standard at lots of hospitals to not give results over the phone and to arrange follow up appointments. It gives the clinician the opportunity to talk face to face with the patient, explain results, answer any questions that they may have and give advice.

I think what your family have said to you makes a lot of sense. Your appointment is quite some time away yet and worrying about it between now and then won't change the results nor make the time go any quicker. It will mean that you spend the next few months feeling very anxious.

If you'd like to chat things through with our team of nurses then give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
