Does the doctor use the term clear or benign?

Hi... wondering if someone can answer this. Recently had biopsy, doctors letter states results are benign which is fantastic, however theyve asked me to go back. So the question is, if there is nothing there would use the term clear or benign... benign meaning there is something there? ?

  • Hi there ...

Now I'm not medically qualified... so this is just what I take it to mean ...

Benign lumps are lumps that are non cancerous ... I've lived with benign lump in left breast for 20 odd years .. but I do know that amazing result ... and they MAY just want to confirm this or give you more info ..  as far as I know they use the word clear as in clear margins ... when they take a lump out and they say clear margins, it means no cancer found on the outta area ...

    Hope ..

helps a little .. hopefully a @moderator or nurse will pop on with more info ..

  • thank you for replying this me a bit more understanding.  :)
