Referred to breast clinic with large breast lump

Hi,

im new here.  I was referred to the breast clinic 17 months ago with a large lump in my left breast.  I was beyond relieved when I was told I had benign breast changes.  I have kept an eye on that lump and recently noticed another large lump underneath it.  Also my breast appears a different shape and has a clearly defined dimple in between the two lumps.  I also noticed the newer lump is quite painful if I push it.  I went to Gp and she referred me again to breast clinic!  My appointment is Fri 20th Sept .  I’m now beside myself with worry and reading google scaring myself senseless!!  Has anyone else had a experience of this please?  Many thanks. X

  • HI Evie20.

Welcome to the forum. We've lots of members who have posted here that have been in your position so please don't feel that you're alone.

It's great that your GP has acted quickly and referred you to the breast clinic. As you know the specialists there are best placed to assess this new lump.

It's important to remember that the vast majority of people referred to breast clinic aren't diagnosed with cancer. It's also important to give Google a very wide berth whilst waiting for your appointment. You won't find answers but you will find lots of information that's not necessarily accurate or applicable to you that will cause anxiety.

If you'd like to chat to one of our nurses ahead of your appointment you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

Keep in touch Evie and let us know how you get on next week.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply Jenn,

Its reassuring to know that there’s support through this forum.  I will think about calling to speak to one of the nurses.  Thank you for the number.  In the mean time,  I’m trying to distract myself by keeping busy.  Just want to get the appointment over and done with. X
