Upper Abdominal pain, weight loss ,normal bloods

I am a 55 year old Woman, diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus two years ago.

During this time I had not experienced any problems and have been taking Omerzapole (20mg,daily).At the end of June

an occasional dull started in my upper abdomen as it became more intense  I visited my GP,who suspected a problem with my Pancreas and referred me to A&E, bloods were normal and ultrasound didn't show any abnormalities.Over the past month I have lost 9KG and ab and upper back pain has intensified.I have now had three visits to A&E and because my bloods are normal been sent home with an increase to pain relief. There is concerm from the A&E about my weight loss but it isn't seen as an immediate problem.

I am concerned and would like to know if a progression of Barretts or pancreatic disease is shown on blood tests.

I shall be grateful for any input.

  • Hi JVee and welcome to the forum.

Your GP would probably be the best person to discuss this with so do get back in touch with them when you can to get their thoughts on this.

Our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to have a chat with them about this as well.

I hope the pain starts to improve and you're able to get some answers soon JVee.

    Kind regards,
