Fear of getting a brain tumor

Hello,

Im a 18 year old female and I've been having inflammed and pressurised headaches on the upper back of my head for the last 2.5 weeks, I've also been experiencing nausea, low appetite and sleep problems in the last week (eg. Drifting to sleep and a muscle movement wakes me up immediately)

I've been referred by a doctor for an MRI and I'm absolutely terrified about the results. I was wondering if these symptoms are common for someone with a brain tumor or if I'm overreacting?

Thanks.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about these headaches you are having and can understand you being worried about what might be causing them.

I'm afraid no one on here is able to tell you what the matter might be. You have done the right thing by seeing your doctor who has been able to assess you and has now arranged for you to have a scan.

Try not to panic there can be lots of reasons for symptoms and most won't be the result of anything as serious as cancer. The important thing is for you to have the scan and go from there. Try to avoid searching for answers on the internet as this can make people feel worse. Instead try and distract your thoughts with other things.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Take care,

    Naomi

  • Did you get the results back. I started experiencing similar symptoms 5 days ago, mainly the head ache bit. No sleep problems or nausea though. I'm too scared to even see my gp
