two week gynea referral

Hi I have posted on here before because last year I was losing blood via the bowel, I already have a stable optic nerve glioma treated with radiotherapy. I am 55 post menopausal and as the radiotherapy damaged my pituitary gland i have not had a period for many years. this week i saw my G.P because for the second time in 6 months i noticed vaginal bleeding after goinhg to the loo. This time though the blood was almost black so to me i would say old blood. I have been referred under the two week rule for a transvaginal scan under the gynae team. I have bee experiencing a lot of lower back pain and my upper abdomen is very bloated although ultrasound could not explain why my tummy is so swollen. I was asked if i have lost weight but it's the complete opposite, 10 kilos in about 7 months with no change in diet or activity level, my food intake is minimal due to other medical issues. I was wondering if anyone else is going through this or has a similar experience.

best wishes

  • Hi hassledmum,

I'm sorry to read about what you're going through at the moment. I hope you're getting on OK and aren't feeling too worried although I'm sure it is unsettling - I hope you're able to find out more soon about what's causing the symptoms you mentioned.

My reply here will boost your post so more people will see it, however do feel free to search the forum for anyone who may have been through something similar. Otherwise, do let us know how you get on - if you would like to of course - everyone here is very supportive and always happy to listen as hopefully you experienced when you posted on here before.

    Wishing you all the best,
