You absolutely did the right thing to go and see the GP and then to go back again a week later as symptoms persisted. It is very good that they are being thorough and that they have referred you to the breast clinic as well as done a swab. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your appointment as waiting can be so stressful and that you get some definite answers very soon.

Sorry I can't help on the discharge but just wanted to offer some support as I am also waiting to go to the breast clinic next Monday. Found a large lump/swollen area about a week ago which is quite tender, just hoping its perhaps a cyst or something but waiting to see someone makes you very anxious.

It can take time for antibiotics to work or you perhaps might need different ones? It seems that doctors are so careful about these things which is great, so if there is any question then they will refer us to the experts xx

No I can understand that completely! I'm not sure what I was expecting when I went either and came away feeling very anxious. I hope the week passes quickly for you as often better to get these things out the way?

Can I ask were they able to confirm cystic changes quite quickly on your last appointment? I am hoping perhaps that is what I have. x

Thankfully with work and family I am kept busy so that’s a blessing.

I had a few small lumps last time and one large, my armpit hurt and I was terrified. They also got worse just before my monthly but after they scanned them they said to relax as they could tell it was just fibrocystic changes. I was checked a few months later to be on the safe side and then told if I had any concerns in the future to see my GP.

Thankyou. Yes agreed, far better to be busy! I have two young sons and a business so my plan is to stay very busy until the appointment! Hope everything goes well for you :)

I feel I am in the same position as you. 

I found quite a large prominent lump in my left breast which I can feel very easily either lying down or sitting up, it’s just there waving at me. 

I went to my doctor and she referred me on 2/9/19 so today I rang my Breast Clinic only to be told I am on the system a consultant has seen my referral and my appt will be in 6-8 weeks!!! 

I can’t believe how long it takes from dr referral to clinic seeing me. 

People always try to think positive for you saying I had that it’s s cyst etc.... I really don’t know what my lump is. I am 43 I have a 9 year old boy and my husband is great support but I am petrified of the unknown and not actually the dreaded C. 

I hope you get an appt real soon and everything turns out to be fine. 

BC is in my family is it in yours??

Oh bless you! I’m really sorry to hear that your appointment is going to take so long. It’s a nerve wracking time and if your anything like me no matter how busy you try and stay it’s still there trying to get your attention.

On the positive side your GP must feel it’s more likely a cyst with your wait time as 6/8 weeks, that’s little comfort I know as you just want a definitive answer but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

 I’m 41 and I’m lucky to have supportive people around me but it’s hard talking to someone who has never experienced this worry so feel free to message me anytime x
