Breast referral - so scared

Hello,

So I have my appointment at the breast clinic tomorrow and I've convinced myself it'll be terrible news. I've had a split in my nipple and crusting in the split (sorry, overshare) for about two months. Also have itching ans pain on and off. When I finally saw the nurse this week she found a lump near the nipple. I couldn't tell what she was thinking, she didn't say a lot so I don't know if she thought it was definitely suspicious, though she did say I was low risk for cancer. I feel so bad for ignoring this for two months and not examining myself properly. I feel sure it must be the dreaded and I'm so scared I can't think about anything else.

Has anyone else had anything similar and found its benign??

  • Hi there ...

Well my first four call backs from mamorgrams over the years were all fine ... each one felt different .. its a horrible time waiting for tests and results .. panic sets in then it feels overwhelming....

But l leaned that 8.5 out of ten lumps are benign... which was my case .. however the 5th one was positive .. I'd left that one nearly 2 years ... yes years ... and it was a grade 3 ... I had a total right masectomy in July 2017 ... and looking back the hardest part is the wait ...

Don't always think worse case scenario... lots of lasses with breast cancer stared on here with me or after and stayed for a while.. lots have gone back to their life and jobs ... and one has just had a baby .. we hear on t.v mainly those that loose their fight ... but many now are surviving cancer .. so try and keep busy as poss.. don't Google symptoms... try not to think "what if" it just maybe fine ... let us know how you go ...  Chrissie x
