What comes next?

Hi, so an x-ray said lung cancer,  (there are other indicators apparently) I had CT scan today (had no  idea what to expect) have appointment for rapid lung clinic on Monday but I've been given no information on what to expect, letter just says allow 2 hours for tests?  I'm hoping to get a bit more clarification at the appointment too,  I know the full diagnosis takes a while but I'm in the dark at the moment, would just be nice to know what happens next!

  • Hi Kez,

I'm glad to hear that you've got your appointment come through for the rapid lung clinic. Although you're still feeling in the dark at the moment you should certainly have some of your questions answered by the consultant on Monday now that you've had the CT scan.

I would imagine on Monday that they will be aiming to do more tests with a view to finding out more information so that they can plan and discuss treatment options with you. Presumably until they have the results of the CT scan back they might not know exactly what tests you'll need on Monday hence the vagueness in the letter.

I hope everything goes smoothly on Monday. Do let us know how you get on when you get chance.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn

Tests were just the spirometry and ecg, consultant didn't have much to say other than doesn't look like it's spread (even though he didn't mention the word cancer) and I'd be booked in for pet scan and biopsy next. Still hoping to get to New York
