Hi, I'm totally new to the forum. Feeling frustrated.
I'm wondering if anyone else had a ultrasound that missed something important?
I've had symptoms for 6 weeks now. It started as a diagnosis of a UTI, which didn't clear with anti-biotics. I had to call 111 and see OOH because so ill. It was then thought to be a kidney infection, which didn't clear with 2 more lots of AB's. I ended up in A&E twice, bent double with pelvic pain (I never go to A&E!) They gave me oramorph and sent me home both times, as they couldn't find a kidney infection! No scans, no bloods the first time.
GP did an urgent Ultrasound referral, which was a 3 week wait. I've just had it today and the radiographer reported no findings. She couldn't see my ovary due to "gas being in the way". I only have one ovary left, after a total hysterectomy 4 years ago (endometriosis, adenomyosis and stenosis) when I was 38 y.o.
I think that it could be endo that's returned, would that show on an abdo U/S? Is it possible the U/S missed cancer?
I go for CA125 bloods tomorrow.
My main symptoms have been extreme bloating (look 6 months pregnant!), loss of appetite, weight loss (and I really struggle to lose weight even when I try very hard), fatigue, urinary urgency/frequency/discomfort, constipation, back ache, extreme nausea, pelvic and abdominal pain (sometimes like period pain, sometimes colicky sometimes shooting) and a single instance of blood in my stool.
I know that there will now be a process of elimination ahead and that my GP is a good one so will help me, which is really reassuring.
So after all that long winded detour, is it possible that the U/S didn't see something that's there? Is MRI or CT better for detection of tumours? (Or endo)
:)
