Recurring high grade CIN

A little bit worried.

Aged 23 (in late 2016), i had bleeding between periods, after sex and sore back. I attended GP twice and was told "it was due to the pill". I attended a new GP and she found i had high grade abnormal precancer cells (CIN3). I was followed up by the HSE cervical screening. I proceeded to have the LLETZ treatment. HPV present during screening.

Now, i again have high grade abnormal precancer cells (CIN3). They say i will need to undergo the LLETZ treatment again. I am concerned about having this again, although i need to get it.

Would it be normal for this to reoccur? Im 26 now.

  • Hello Shazxx,

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry you have had this recurrence of CIN3 and that you will need to undergo LLETZ treatment again. When you have your appointment, it might be worth talking to them about this and asking whether they can tell you more about these recurrences. Feel free also to give a call to our friendly team of nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 as they may be able to tell you more about this. You can ring them Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm

I thought I would also share this information from our website on treatment if you have abnormal cervical cells. Interestingly, I was responding only this morning to another lady here who was also worried because it was the second time she was having to deal with abnormal cervical cells. In her case, the reoccurrence happened 14 years later. You can read [@Laura84]‍ 's thread here and feel free to respond to it if you wish.

I hope this helps a little and I hope the treatment goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,
