A CA125 blood test can be used to help detect ovarian cancer as it is produced by some ovarian cancer cells. A high level of CA125 in your blood could be a sign of ovarian cancer.

But, and this is the important part to remember, a raised CA125 level doesn't mean you definitely have cancer, as it can also be caused by less serious things such as endometriosis, fibroids and even pregnancy. 

It sounds as if your Consultant is being cautious and ordering these additional tests to double check everything. Try not to use Google  - you will find lots of negative and often unreliable information.
