Lung Cancer Diagnosis Process

Hi

I am not too sure how to start this post, so I will start with my back story first. So my partner has had a persistent cough, and was referred for an Xray which showed a shaddow. Friday just gone they had a CT scan and now has been referred very quickly for an appointment with a respiratory consultant. They are a non-smoker, however, had close family die of lung cancer. Although I may be running away with my worries, I have a bad feeling and all the above with a quick referral makes me very scared it is cancer.

I've tried to look online, but I wanted to know if anyone knew what the usual process is once he sees the consultant. Will they do more tests and refer them for treatment at a cancer unit? Is it all quite a quick process? Any advice or shared experiences would be really appreciated so I know what to expect.

  • Hi jenna, sorry about you partner, I haven't got lung cancer, but there are others with, one is [@Puddle-Jumper]‍ she's getting ready to have her operation on Monday so she's not on forum till she gets home after, she's trying to relax herself ready hopefully she'll get in touch later, if you go to search at start you can find others your self, I'm surprised others haven't joined you yet, good luck for your partner....
