Hi Everybody ,
My Mum has been diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of August after being investigated for stomach pains since christmas.
polyps were found around the bowel which were benign and they then believed that it could be her reproductive system. She has had a CT scan and her lymph node were enlarged. A lymph node biopsy has confirmed that poorly differentiated squamous carcinoma cells were present.
She was sent for a PET scan and it had shown high fdg in the spinal lymph nodes as well as axillary lymph nodes and it shows that under her tongue, left side tonsils and the right lateral aspect of her tongue all had high fdg in the report.
we saw her consultant again today who reported all of the above. The plan is to refer her to ENT (ear nose and throat) which will take at least another week. They may need another biopsy which is more time and they actually still don’t think that this is the primary cancer. They believe this is a cancer with an unknown primary source.
I do understand that there may be a process of elimination but I don’t want to give the cancer time to spread even further.
Would anyone else be considering going to mums go with her to get her referred to the local cancer specialist hospital?
Very worried daughter x
