Hi all
I found a lump in my neck nearly a year ago and docs said it was a swollen gland. Fast forward to July, lump still there and went to docs again. New doc sent me for a blood test (all normal) and an ultrasound, which showed a large nodule on the right side of my thyroid. No other symptoms at the time and I was sent for a biopsy 10 days ago. Four days later the results were back, and I got a letter on Saturday saying I’d be sent for a repeat biopsy on the 17th.
I spoke to my consultant today as I didn’t understand why (at this point I didn’t know the results were back already) and he said “there’s no need to be concerned but the cells show a slight abnormality which can happen if the slide of cells dries too fast, gets crushed on the way to testing, didn’t get enough cells.” He kept repeating nothing to worry about but need a repeat biopsy
surely if nothing to be concerned about the cells wouldn’t be abnormal? And he could say they’re benign? If this is cancer it’s cancer and I’ll deal with it but the not knowing is so much harder!
has anyone come across this? What was the outcome? Xx thanks
