CONFUSED AND ANXIOUS MESS - CERVICAL WORRIES

Hello.

So i had a smear test 3 weeks ago, walked away thinking it's going to be fine - no worries atall. I went away on a family gtg for 4 days.

Whilst away i recieved a message on saturday stating i had a gyne app for the Tuesday. I tried to call hospital but of course was a weekend. I was very worried.

Anyways after a couple of drinks i was soon ok, then got home on monday, and of course was a letter at my door - your smear test results -high grade dysakaria and need to go to colopscopy as soon as possible.

My app was already booked for the tuesday after - so of course i cancelled work and went to it. They was lovely so kind and caring and very comfortable to talk too.

She mentioned HPV was high along with abnormal cells found at the high graded end of the scale. Explained what would happen and said i would probably have treatment there and then,i of course was fine with that.

So as the colposcopy was carried out, she then performed the LLETZ treatment on me and took a large biopsy... she said the growth was 7-9mm in size? and i would recieve results with it being graded/staged. WTF!!!

Now i am so anxious, by the sounds of it all I  have cancer? What does she mean? what does all this stuff mean? i am extremely confused.

I had laser on ab cells 11 years ago when i was 17 years old and now this treatment.

I have no idea why biopsy was taken, what happens with results and what they mean and what happens now? Do i not go back and get results or speak to anyone because now i have so many questions!!!! Help me..Im a nervous wreck.

Thank you

  • Hello, I’m sorry you’re in this position- it’s such a worrying time. No, it doesn’t mean you have cancer they will do the tests on your biopsy and either telephone you or write with your results/have meeting etc. I’m in the same boat. I have gynae app week today - I’m bricking it! Had two scans that showed up an area on cervix that is suspect and the most chronic pain I’m beside myself. My smear 3 months ago was clear although that means nothing.. are you in UK? Hope everything is ok for you x
