Urgent colposcopy

Hi I'm new to this site.. I'll start from the beginning, back in 2010 when I was 18 i was suffering with heavy bleeding everyday, i was back and forth to the doctors who just kept telling me it was due to my body getting back to normal after having my first daughter a year before, after many trips they referred me to colposcopy, they looked at my cervix and said everything looked normal. I begged for a smear test as I was too young, they agreed to give me one because every female on my mums side have all had cervix abnormalities. After an abnormal smear and biopsy, results came back as CIN3 and I had lletz treatment. Had a smear every 6 months, then yearly and now put on 3 years. They were all normal. Ive been bleeding constantly and losing clots everyday for 10 months now, I have pain in my lower right side of my back and a weird sensation/pain in my right groin. I didnt go to the doctors because I've never had a regular period and have had a horrendous year with a sudden death of my family etc it's just been one big blur.. I've just had my smear test almost 3 weeks ago, I havnt had the results back but I had a letter to see colposcopy it was sent 15/08/19 first class for me to see someone on the 22/08/19. Obviously my minds running away with me because why would I receive an appointment if my results were normal. I'm worried theyve received them before me and now sent me an urgent appointment! I've got two children one who is disabled and I'm petrified they are going to tell me I have the C word! Thanks for reading xx

  • Hi Mumof2babes,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about what you've been going through recently and especially with the tough year you've had.

I'm unsure of the reasons for you being sent for a colposcopy but it sounds like they're doing this for further clarification. Try not to assume anything at this stage, and instead make sure you ask the doctor at your appointment about any questions or concerns you have.

You can find out more about what to expect at the colposcopy here.

I see that your appointment is today, so I hope it all goes well. Do let us know how you get on, if you would like to of course, and whatever happens do use this forum as a means for support if you find it helpful.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben thanks for your reply, so I've just got home now, everything looked okay but shes given me a biopsy to make sure. Results for my smear came through yesterday and are HPV negative to that's definitely reassuring! Shes done an urgent referral to geanocology as she thinks my problems are more due to something with my womb or ovaries, I feel a bit better after my appointment and I'm not worrying as much as I was. So all i can do is sit and wait now for my next appointment will keep you updated

  • That all sounds reassuring and glad you're back home already!

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better now and I hope you don't have too much longer to wait for the next appointment!

    Thanks for updating.

    Ben
