Fibroadenoma

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice and reassurance really.

i went to the drs today after having found a lump in my right breast 4 weeks ago, it is VERY painful!! It’s a constant ache in my breast and the lump is extremely tender. The dr today said it feels like a Fibroadenoma but has referred me to the breast clinic to get it checked out and said I should hear back in 2 weeks. Now I’m worrying myself sick!!! I take a biologic medication for Ankylosing Spondylitis & I know there is a slight increase in the risk of Breast cancer.

  • Hi Emz

It can be worrying when one finds a lump but hope you’re not worrying too much. GPs examine lumps all the time and know when something feels cancerous and when it does not.  not everyone referred to the breast clinic is there because of cancer, but they’re the only department who have the technology to look at breasts and your GP needs to refer you just to be 100%. Sounds like your GP is quite confident yours is fibrosis in nature and the accompanying pain would support this view.

try not to let your imagination run wild. x

  • Thank you for your reply!

The GP was almost certain but because of the time it has been there and painful she said the guidelines say to refer me. Today I have noticed a slight bruising to the breast in question like a petechia type bruising (small dots under the skin) has anyone had this before?

Its not trauma. The bruising isn’t painful either but it is the same breast as the lump.

    Thanks!

  • I had small red dots on my breast but after all my treatment was finished. Don’t know what they were or what caused them but they went away after a month or two.
