Hello,
Any advice would be really appreciated as i am really anxious and struggling to eat and sleep currently due to the waiting.
I have to wait 4 weeks to have a 2mm purple papule removed and i am really worried
It appeared originally out the blue about 3 weeks ago, it was black and was slightly raised above the surface of my skin, symetrical in shape on my right thigh. I don't think anything else was there before but could've been a small freckle. I got referred by my doctor as urgent, and couldn't wait the 2 weeks so went to see a dermatologist who scraped off the top which had gone scabby and black (i thought it was a blood blister originally so tried to pop it but it didn't budge) and it came off fairly easily when he scraped it with a scalpol (he did say if was melanoma he doubts it would scrape off soo easily, which i really hope) leaving a 2mm lesion on my skin. Within acouple of days it healed over and is now a purple colour and smooth and not raised and has stayed the same size so far. That dermatologist advised keeping the other appointment, to have it checked as he thought it was a traumatised hemangianoma but couldn't be sure. The dermatologist i saw Monday isn't sure what it is and said it is best to be removed to have it checked. She did say it has become less keratotic and maybe slightly smaller. The letter i received today from the dermatologist i seen Monday concerns me that they are suspecting nodular melanoma even though it says ?hemangioma. The letter says 'It is a 2mm small soft purply papule with no pigment network. I did not see the vascular lacunae dermoscopically, but there is no specific dermoscopic features. I think it would be sensible to remove this for definitive histological diagnosis'
I know i just need to wait and have it removed and take it from there but has anyone had any similar symptoms please?
Thank you
Clarise
