Hi, I am a 22 year old female and have had the same problem for just over a year. I had a fall in May last year and injured my back and head. I couldn’t feel anything from the waist down and had cracked my head open. I was taken to hospital after being given Morphine and Gas and Air in the ambulance and waited to see the doctor. I was given an X-ray for my back which cleared all my bones and was told I had done severe damage to the nerves in my back, which resulted in me not being able to walk for just under 2 weeks. However, my head wasn’t looked at just glued together.
Around 4/5 months later I started to experience excruciating headaches, stabbing pains to all over pains, ringing in my ears and pressure in my ears and itchiness. I had loss of vision, feeling sick and being sick and was sleeping at least half of the day. In addition to, most of the time the headache wouldnitensify when I laid down. I would wake up at 8am go to work, come home at 4:30 and sleep from then until 8am the next morning without waking. I started to get shooting pains and “a dead leg” down one of my legs which stopped me from being able to move for a minute or so.
I went to see my doctor, I was given headache tablets to try and taken off my pill incase this had caused it. A month or so later, the headaches got worse and I was getting them every day which resulted in me going to A&E. They sent me home with painkillers and told me to go back to the doctors. So I did, I found a really helpful doctor who listened well and thought I may have a brain tumor and sent me through a two week wait urgent list, I had a blood test and MRI. MRI came back clean but blood test showed an infection. I was sent to a neurologist who told me it could be hypertension? Pressure on the brain in so many words. I was sent for an extended eye test to check behind my eyes and in 5 months since my last eye test, my sight had gone from needing glasses for computers and reading to needing them for everyday life, all the time. The neurologist sent a letter to my doctor saying I needed a lumbar puncture but it wasn’t urgent.
Call from my doctor told me I didn’t need one and that was that. 3 months later I’m back at the doctors after being up 3 nights in a row with sickness and headaches, she told me I did in fact need the lumbar puncture I was given an appointment for but it wasn’t urgent. I’m still awaiting this appointment from the neurologist but am getting so fed up.
im still in the same amount of pain I’ve been in for months, I was sent to a headache clinic who thought I had chronic sinusitis, I took the tablets and nothing improved. It is making my sleep constantly, have such a careless attitude about everything, be so irate and miserable and I’m constantly in pain.
Has as anyone else ever experienced this? Is there anything else I can do?
