The Waiting Game: referred to the breast clinic

Hey, I'm new to this and really not sure what I'm doing here.

I'm 32 mum to 3. A couple of months ago I found a lump in my right breast and my nipple had started to pull in. I ignored it for a bit and buried my head in the sand. Within 6 weeks my nipple was completely inverted and I can feel quite a large mass so I finally went to the Drs yesterday. She felt what she called a mass and a fullness in my right breast and referred me to the breast clinic. This morning I recieved a letter with an appointment for tuesday for a consultation and possible ultrasound/biopsy/mammogram. So now it's a waiting game.

I'm sure it's nothing but my brain sometimes likes to panic so I'm here for some hand holding. It would be great to here from others in the same position

  • Hello Lizibee,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your appointment on Tuesday - as you say it is now just a waiting game, but as many on this forum will know only too well, this waiting game certainly isn't a fun game! The best thing to do over the weekend and before Tuesday is to try and keep distracted and busy and avoid looking anything up online. I hope it all goes well for you on Tuesday.

Many here will know exactly what you are feeling at the moment and they will also have experienced this wait for the first appointment at the breast clinic. I hope that others will be along soon to share their experience with you and tell you more about what to expect on Tuesday. I hope you won't mind but I have also slightly edited your title adding 'referred to the breast clinic' - this will increase chances of your post being seen by someone who has had a similar experience before.

Let us know how things go on Tuesday if you get a moment - we'll be thinking of you!

    Best wishes,
