Is it cancer?

I had a CA125 of 172 and had an ultrasound where they found 2 ovarian cysts on each ovary which are small.  I also had a womb biopsy for which I am awaiting results it has been two weeks and I am beside myself with worry my consultant has asked for another CA125 which I had done yesterday.  He’s saying he hopes that will normalise which means I can have another scan in 2 months to see if the cysts have grown. Otherwise it’s more serious than we thought!  I’m going to be a basket case in 2 months thinking they don’t know if they are cancerous yet?  He has also asked for a bowel biopsy as my symptoms are projectile vomiting and wetting myself, severe flooding when on a period, bloated stomach excruciating stomach cramps and frequently urinating.  The waiting has sent me into overdrive and has made me have severe anxiety which I suffer from anyway!  Is this a normal reaction from the consultant because I still have no results and answers and it’s been 2 weeks.  He also thinks I may have late onset menopause which is a rare form of menopause as I’m 54.  However I still don’t know if I have cancer?!  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

  • Hello Iamclaire,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long now for your results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. It is normal for your mind to go into overdrive while waiting and the best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. Perhaps you could also give your consultant a call to try and find out how long it might take to get these results?

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks I’m going to call again Monday!  My partner is taking me way next week to try and help me to relax!  The waiting is just awful!
