Cin3 lletz

Hi I was wondering if someone could advise me. Long story short I've had abnormal coloscopy. Twice with Cin3. So I'm now due to have a lletz procedure. The results showed Cin3 but hpv negative. So I'm just wondering why I need a lletz if hpv negative. I hope this isn't a silly question. I am just quiet anxious as I have nobody to ask and my G. P. Isn't approachable. Thanks.

Hi Joni
You need the lletz because you need to get rid of the abnormal cells. While cin3 is not cancer, the cells if left could one day develop into cancer so it’s best to have them removed now. HPV can be dormant in your system, so while you may have a negative hpv test, it doesn’t mean you don’t have the virus-only that it is not active at the time of the test.
It’s much easier to have the lletz now and get rid of this before it develops into anything more serious. Good luck! xx
