Fear of the unknown

hello

I had an operation nearly 3weeks ago to remove a milk duct in my right breast. It had been determined there was a high grade tumour within the duct. The healing process is progressing nicely and there is very little pain now.

I have an appointment on Wednesday to see the consultant and hopefully find out the next stage.

What I would like to ask is does anyone know what is the usual next stage as I am starting to have real panics about the process.

My breast care nurse rang me this morning and whilst she confirmed that my results are available she could not tell me anything. Her only advice was to suggest I brought someone with me. That started the panicking even more.

Any advice or guidance please

  • Hi JandM; welcome to Cancer Chat.

I can see your appointment is today so I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we'll be thinking of you.

I hope the consultant is able to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what happens next.

If you'd like to talk things through with someone after you've seen your consultant then do give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
