Biopsy

I had my liver biopsy on 02 aug and called yesterday to chase up he results. My consultant is on annual leave (which worries me) but out a note in the file to say she's be picking up emails whilst off!  My dedicated nurse told me she couldn't give me the results vas that was the consultants place to do that. However on checking said the reason they were not available was that they were inconclusive.

Without exception every doctor or consultant I've seen since the beginning of this journey has referred to cancer. Some in more worrying terms than others.

I'm beginning to think they have situation and are just running with it to the exclusion of anything else.  I've been in horrendous pain for 13 weeks and taking more and more pain killers to no avail. I'm not sure how long I can go on like this. Ive said from the beginning (and infact diagnosed at the beginning) that the pain feels like neuralgia type pain and keeps changing area from minute to minute. If this is the case it would explain  why normal pain killers are not working!

They are apparently doing more work on the biopsy sample but I've no idea for how long and it worries me the consultant is on holiday.

I'm reaching my limit I feel so I'll.

Kindest regards x

  • Hello 747,

It must be a very frustrating time for you especially if the consultant is on holiday and I hope you can get some answers very soon. 13 weeks is a very long time to be in pain and I am sorry to hear the painkillers have not been helping much. It does sound rather unbearable for you and it might be worth getting in touch with your GP or asking to talk to another consultant if yours is away on holiday to see if they can give you more adequate pain relief.

I hope you get your results from your biopsy results very soon and it does sound like you could do with talking to someone so do try and speak to a doctor if you can about how you are feeling at the moment. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your consultant to come back from annual leave.

    Best wishes,
