Solid cyst on right ovary .

Hello

I’m looking for guidance...

i recently had a ultrasound & a trans vaginal scan , after going to the doctor with symptoms of persistent bloating/feeling full, extremely unbearable pain in my right side, feeling tired & sleeping , pain in my lower back & pelvis, needing the toilet more often & painful periods. I’ve had these symptoms for about 3 years, the pain is constant.

my scans came back & the doctor rang & told me I have some solid Cysts & need a ca 125 blood test.

so I had my blood took Tuesday & a gynaecologist appointment today ( Thursday) my ca 125 came back at 38. She did an internal & took swabs told me it looks more like endometriosis and to come back in 4 months time for another scan & blood tests.

i just don’t understand, I have the symptoms and solid cysts on both ovaries 3cm , I’m in constant pain & all the gynae was going on about was fitting a coil for my painful periods.. I’m in disbelief that I’m not having a biopsy to determine if it is endo or cancer? I’m fed up of my symptoms & being tired all the time, it’s really affecting my daily life.

i don’t know what to do.

thanks for reading.

  • Hi Kikicats,

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the health problems you've been dealing with. It sounds as if things are really starting to get you down.

A CA125 blood test can be used as part of the diagnostic process for ovarian cancer however a raised result doesn't mean you definitely have cancer, as it can also be caused by less serious things such as endometriosis, fibroids and even pregnancy. Your result of 38 is just outside of the "normal" range and presumably this is why the Consultant has asked you to be rechecked in 4 months.

Understandably this doesn't help with your symptoms in the here and now so it would seem like a good idea to go back to your GP and discuss the situation with them. If you'd like to talk thing through with our team of nurses before doing so then please do give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things start to improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks jenn

ive made an appointment with my GP for next Tuesday, I just thought the gynaecologist would investigate it now rather than later. I hope I get the answers I need from my GP.

    thanks again
