enlarged lymph nodes in groin and neck

Hi all,

i had noticed a large lymph node in my neck about 6 years ago which the doctors told me it was nothing to worry about.

after this about 4 years ago i started have sharp chest pains. went to the doctors who carried out a xray and found nothing so put it down to stress.

a year later i had a large lump near my spine in the middle of my back. i had a ultrasound and xray and they stated this was a lipmoa however its pretty hard and does not move much.

earlier this year i noticed a lump in my groin and went to the doctors again and where they carried out a ultrasound which confirmed enlarged lymph nodes with the largest being 18mm. the doctor said this was fine and there was nothing they could do.

i had also notcied a smaller lump in my right next below the larger lump which again the doctors have said is fine without carrying out any checks other than blood tests.

i have again since noticed 2 lumps on my lower back inline with my hip bone. it sits within the spine and hip bone on my back.

i have managed to get a referal of the doctor to see a hematologist even though this isnt something they wanted to do.

i feel like my syptoms must only mean one thing and thats cancer, and due to the doctors not taking anything serious it could be end up being a late stage.

as anyone had these symptoms?

  • Hello John,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these health concerns for some time now. It sounds as if you're quite anxious about things.

It's impossible for us to say what may be causing your lumps. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for you haematology appointment to come through and the team there will be able to assess things for you.

If you feel that you'd like to talk through your concerns with one of our nurses then you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,
